St Vincent de Paul

In the parish of St. Oswald a conference was set up in 1962, and was amalgamated with the conference of the Sacred Heart in 2006, when the two parishes merged.

The conference meets weekly and members in pairs are asked to make at least one visit a week to people in need. Some of the present work consists in Eucharistic visits and answering the call for help from families and migrants. Conference sponsors an annual lunch for 'Senior Citizens' and caters for about 140 guests, they also deliver meals to the housebound. A very special work supported by the conference is the Vincentian pilgrimage for the Sick to Walsingham. Membership is open to all people of good will who however have to submit to a DBS check. The Spiritual Director of the conference is the parish priest and the conference acknowledges his support and the consistent generosity of the parishioners.
