Music Ministry - 10am Mass

Our small choir is led by John Mullen, our organist, in singing the Liturgy and hymns at the 10am Mass in St. Oswald's Church and once a month at 12 noon Mass in the Sacred Heart School hall.

New members are always welcome, please speak to one of us, or just come up and join us on Sunday mornings. We lead the congregation in familiar hymns and suggestions for these are always very welcome.

If you would like more details, please phone John Mullen on 01733 261158 or Erica Danvers on 01733 32724

Music Ministry - Noon Mass

We are a small but dedicated group who lead the music for the midday Mass and also once a month the 10am mass. We have a core membership of musicians and singers and encourage a flexible membership where others can join in for individual services or for short periods, i.e. Christmas, and Easter. At present we use guitars, violins and a keyboard, but have over time used drums, flutes, organ, mandolin, and clarinets. We welcome new musicians and singers and do not limit ourselves to certain set instruments.

Over the past year as well as the weekly Sunday Mass we have been involved in leading the music for Christmas Eve Family Mass, Christmas Night Mass, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Confirmation, First Communion, Baptisms and parish social events. We also have extensive experience of providing music for weddings, funerals, prayer meetings, etc.. both in our own parish and when invited in other parishes as well.

Our group could loosely be described as folk music but we prefer the title Music Ministry as our main focus is to provide the best music we can to praise God, by enhancing and supporting the liturgy. We aim to encourage active participation in the Mass which we hopefully achieve. As well as using the parish hymn book and many other various sources of music we also use a number of self compositions, these include many responsorial psalms and musical settings for the mass.

We welcome new membership whether that be 'full-time' membership or as mentioned above for one off occasions, we practice each Wednesday evening at 7.00pm at St.Oswald's church. If you are interested in joining us please contact me for more details.
